Erica Hosseini began surfing and two years later was entering competitions.
She did not do well her first year, never making it out of the first round. But her second year she began winning events and entered her first professional surfing competition, the Foster's Cup, while still only 14 years old. She ended up coming in second, breaking the world record for youngest surfer to ever make the finals in an Association of Surfing Professional sponsored event.
